Inktober mandalas part 1

Inktober was started in 2009 by artist Jake Parker, as a challenge to artists to create an ink drawing every day in October. This includes a list of prompts or ideas for each day.

Since then, Inktober-like challenges have arisen in many art forms. This year, I decided to do the challenge in the Facebook group Mandalas for a Season. The group has its own list of prompts, and here are my first 6 mandalas for the challenge. You can follow this challenge on Instagram with the hashtag #inktober2018mandalasforaseason.

Here is my artwork for October 1-6. All were created on my iPad Pro with apps Procreate, iOrnament, iColorama, and Metabrush.

Some new digital art

The first three abstract paintings were created completely digitally, in Procreate and iColorama.

And these three paintings are made up of layers of alcohol inks and digital textures.

iColorama is an app with too many features to count. Sometimes I like to start with a photo and quickly add a bunch of random filters and effects. (Of course I often kick myself for not keeping track.) Here are a few examples with the original photos. All photos are from Pixabay.
