This week in art

This week, I have been playing with an iPad app called MetaBrush. This app has many cool artistic features, but the one I am focusing on allows you to create great textures, following this tutorial by the wonderful Teresa Lunt.

Here are some of my first attempts at MetaBrush textures. The image on the left is the source image I used, and on the right is the texture I created. You can click on each image for a larger view.

The first three are based on textures from Pixabay, a royalty-free image site.

This one is based on one of my painted papers.

This one is based on a free image from the Hubble Telescope website.

Finally, for these two, I used photos of my bead embroidery.

Much more to come!

ME, TOO!! Here I am, a tangler tucked away in my little spot in Eugene, Oregon, and "I" came up with the idea of searching the internet and downloading images. I tweak the downloaded images by choosing a small area of the picture and enlarging, fading, changing colors, etc. I, too, have a lot of Hubble images. I use the printed-out pics as backgrounds for my Zentangle art and doodles. Yes, the possibilities are endless. I don't just draw over the background, I also see fantasy images in the tweaked downloads. They spark my imagination, like seeing a fish or a person in a cloud. FUN!
